Message for Parents

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As of Monday 30th July 2018, Lakeview Senior College will be utilising an automated messaging solution (SMS) via Compass and will text you as soon as practicable on the day that a student is not at school and you haven’t notified the school as to why.

Protecting the safety and well-being of children through the reporting and monitoring of absenteeism is the shared responsibility of both parents/carers and schools. Please remember to call the school absence line on 9219 3100 before 9am if your child is going to be away or late for school so your child’s absence can be recorded correctly. If you are notified by the school SMS service that your child is away without a reason, we ask that you contact us as soon as possible by calling the school on 9219 3100 and press 1 for the absence line to let us know where your child is.

It is essential that we have accurate contact details for you so that we can contact you regarding your child. Please contact the school so we can update our records if any of your details have changed or change in the future (include parent/carer’s name, address, phone numbers, email address and emergency contact details).

As a school, we are proud that our attendance processes have supported Lakeview students in achieving attendance rates above those of other schools in our network. This new initiative will support our students in maintaining their attendance above our 90% minimum requirement and ensure that their learning remains a priority. For further information on the processes and procedures our school uses to record, monitor and follow-up student attendance and absence please read our Attendance Policy on our school’s website.
