Lakeview Covid update

3/6/21

In line with the Victorian government direction, Year 11 & 12 students return to school on Friday 4th of June. We understand some students and families will be anxious about returning at this time. However, the Chief Health Officer has deemed it safe to return and our expectation is that all Year 11s & 12s will be back on site. At Lakeview, we will ensure that the following protocols are applied:

Visitors
• At this time - no visitors or parents on site
• If picking your child up - please call reception when you arrive and your child will be sent out to you
• Unavoidable visitors must sign in using our QR Coding

The school day
• Classes start at 9.00am - students should not arrive at school earlier than 8.45am
• Classes end at 3.10pm and all students are required to be off site no later than 3.25pm
• Students are expected to head straight home after school each day as per Covid restrictions
• The general office will close at 3.30pm for the next week

Health related
• Students/staff awaiting a Covid test result must not attend school
• if you are unwell- do not come to school - get tested
• Students/staff exhibiting cold/flu like symptoms - will be sent home immediately
• Hand sanitizer will be available in all classrooms and social areas

Face masks – schools in metropolitan Melbourne
• School staff and secondary school students aged 12 or older must always wear a face mask (indoors and outdoors) at school, unless an exception applies and a medical certificate is provided
• For the purposes of communicating, teachers and education support staff are not required to wear face masks while teaching, but those who wish to do so, can
• Face masks are mandatory for all school staff and school students aged 12 or older when travelling to and from school.
• It is expected ALL students will arrive at school with a face mask on. Replacement masks are available if the mask breaks during the school day

Density quotients
• The density quotient of 1 person per 4 square metre applies in spaces used only by staff and to publicly accessible areas. It does not apply in classrooms.

The library & indoor areas
• Students are encouraged to be outside at breaks. Our library will be closed for the next week at least.

We can make this work as well as we can as long as we all follow the requirement to stay safe at this time.

Observing Covid Restrictions

We are all required to observe Covid restrictions at this time. It is hard. But...we cannot be at friends’ houses - during the school day or after school. We cannot be outside without a face mask on our face. We cannot catch a bus without a face mask on. We cannot meet friends at the Shopping Centre. There are significant fines for breaches of Covid restrictions.

Students - do the right thing, don't place yourself at risk of fines by thinking you do not need to follow the current restrictions - you do

Parents - if a friend of your child arrives at the door - don't let them in. No teacher is setting classwork that needs students to complete it with someone else next to them at this time.

Kind Regards and stay safe.
