Dear parents, carers and students,

At 11am today the Victorian Government announced that, on the advice of the Victorian Chief Health Officer, Victoria will move into lockdown from this evening to slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

Unfortunately, this also means that we have had to postpone this evening’s scheduled drama performance. We share the disappointment of our amazing drama class and look forward to being able to reschedule this event as soon as possible.

Lakeview Senior College will be closed on Friday 28th May to Thursday 3rd June. We did a brilliant job in supporting our students through previous periods of remote learning and will do so again.

The government has announced that tomorrow is a student free day so there will be no scheduled online learning or students at school.

The following arrangements will occur across next week:

  • All Year 10, Year 11 and Year 12 students will move to remote and flexible learning on Monday 31st May. For all Year 10 and 11 classes, double sessions will become single sessions which begin at the normal starting time of the double session. Students are expected to be on time for the first hour of the double period. For all VCAL and Year 12 classes, the classroom teacher will use the second hour of the double in a range of different ways to best meet individual student needs such as providing support, feedback, setting an application task or catch up on work they are behind with
  • There will be no Pathways or Tute classes for Year 10 and 11 next week. Year 12 Pathways will run session 5 on Tuesday 1st June to allow students to receive vital information about the GAT. This will be run through the Year 12 Team page – please make sure you join the assembly at 2:10pm. The year 12 team will also remain online after this meeting to answer any further questions or concerns that students may have

As our Year 10 and 11 exams were due to begin on Tuesday 1st June, we will be working on a new exam timetable that will be scheduled to begin on Friday 4th June. We will provide new timetables and any other information as soon as we receive official communication from the Department.

On days when students are not able to be supervised at home and no other arrangements can be made, an onsite supervision program will be in place. This will be available for children of parents who cannot work from home and any student with a disability and vulnerable children. If you would like to request attendance onsite, we ask that you email your request to:

lakeview.senior.co@education.vic.gov.au by 3.00 pm tomorrow.
Thank you for your continued understanding and support. We will continue to provide you with updates as soon as we receive any new information. We are so proud of the courage, persistence and flexibility that our school community has shown in the last 18 months. We are confident that we can continue to support each other in remaining safe and focused on student growth and success.
